SWIMS-III, the Shallow Water Integrated Mapping System, was developed by Mike Gregg and is now operated by Wave Chasers.  We successfully tested the system in Lake Washington today under beautiful blue skies.  We were recently awarded two days of ship time on R/V Thompson to study internal waves off the Washington Coast next month, and so plan to operate the system then. Towed behind a ship, SWIMS-III allows very dense data near steeply sloping bottoms, collecting temperature, salinity, velocity and turbulence information.
